The Sealy Posturepedic Mattress - A Good Choice

Choosing the right mattress can make all the difference in the world. A poor mattress will make you feel uncomfortable, unable to sleep and maximize your aches and pains. Poor sleeping habits inhibit your daily life because your body cannot function to its maximum performance. Alternatively, the right mattress helps you fall asleep faster and stay asleep all night. A proper night’s rest helps energize your body and keep your mind alert. Over the years, Sealy Posturepedic has proven itself to be a producer of high quality mattresses. Its outstanding record of quality and comfort has made the Sealy Posturepedic mattresses a bestseller worldwide.

History of the Sealy Brand

In 1881, Daniel Haynes started using cotton to make mattresses for his family and friends in a small town in Texas called Sealy. Cotton was relatively new to mattress making, but it had widespread use in making clothing. The cotton mattresses were found to be so comfortable that in 1889, Haynes created and was granted a patent on a machine that compressed cotton for use in mattress making.

Daniel Haynes decided to sell his cotton compression patent, along with all other mattress patents and ideas, to fellow Texan Earl Edwards, in 1906. Edwards was an advertising executive working for the Sealy Company. Edwards improved upon the original product design and made the mattress known to the world.

It wasn’t until 1950 that the Sealy Posturepedic mattress became available to the general public. By the time the Sealy Posturepedic mattress was released on the market, Sealy had already gained its reputation in quality and comfort. Not until 1995 did Sealy make the decision to expand and offer their products to the international market. International exposure gave Sealy amazing success while ensuring that millions of people would sleep comfortably on a Sealy Posturepedic mattress.

Do You Need a Sealy Posturepedic Mattress?

A healthy body and mind come from healthy sleeping habits. A good night’s sleep requires comfort and support that can only be offered by a durable and firm mattress. A Sealy Posturepedic mattress combines all the requirements of a perfect night of sleep into one quality mattress. The Sealy Company has spent the past 125 years improving its products to provide consumers with the best mattress for a better night’s sleep. The durability and quality of a Sealy Posturepedic mattress will insure that your sound investment will last beyond your generation.

Has Sealy Been Caught Napping

Sealy is the grand-old-daddy of mattresses. Very few other mattress manufacturers have been making mattresses as long as Sealy and few could match the quality and comfort of a Sealy mattress. But, with the introduction of new mattress types such as, air, latex and memory foam mattresses, does a Sealy mattress rate as highly as it used to?

For many years the Sealy mattress scored highly in consumer reviews and there is no denying the quality of a Sealy mattress. The materials used in a Sealy mattress have always been the best available. Combined with the innerspring system - heavy gauge that are heat tempered twice to help maintain their shape - a Sealy mattress was one of the most comfortable and reasonably priced quality mattresses you could buy. For consumers who appreciate a traditionally made mattress of the highest quality, the Sealy mattress has always been the mattress of choice.

But not everyone has been satisfied with the old-fashioned mattress. Many consumers with back problems have found the comfort and support of mattresses made from modern materials to be more beneficial. Companies like Tempur-Pedic have stormed onto the world stage of mattresses. The viscoelastic mattress has given many people the first good night's sleep they've known for many years. Although there is still a high demand for innerspring mattresses, there's no denying the rising popularity of memory foam mattresses. Does this mean that Sealy is no longer the best mattress you can buy?

The answer is that Sealy still makes some of the finest mattresses money can buy. The Sealy innerspring mattress is still one of the best and most top rated of mattresses. But Sealy haven't been slow to recognise the therapeutic benefits of memory foam mattresses and have begun manufacturing their own version. As you might expect, Sealy has put a lot of time, money and effort into the development of its own version of a memory foam mattress. The result has been the introduction of the Sealy PosturePedic TrueForm mattress. The Sealy TrueForm mattress responds to weight and body temperature to conform to the exact body shape of the sleeper thereby delivering orthopedically correct alignment of the neck and spine. The secret of this mattress is that Sealy have used a multi-layered foam core that provides a custom feel that is unique for every one who sleeps on it. The TrueForm mattress comes with FlameGuard to protect against fire and also comes with a mattress cover that zips right off for easy cleaning. Sealy are so confident that the consumer will find the TrueForm mattress the most comfortable mattress they've ever slept on that the mattress comes with a 20-year limited warrantee.

The Sealy memory foam mattress comes in three models; to suit all requirements and budgets. The 11-series comes with 1.5" layer of convoluted memory foam - for added comfort - on a 3.5" memory foam core. The base consists of a 6" high-density foam layer. The 9-series comes with a 3" memory foam core, again with a 6" high-density foam layer. The 8-series comes with a 3" memory foam core and 5" high-density foam layer. All models come with a washable, zip-off cover.

Sealy also makes a spring-free latex mattress - perfect for those who are especially allergic to any household allergens. The Sealy SpringFree latex mattress also comes with the Sealy rigid box spring to support the mattress for long-lasting performance.

So have Sealy caught up with new technological advances in mattress manufacture? It would seem so. However, Sealy memory foam mattresses haven't been on the market as long as Tempur-Pedic and it remains to be seen if their version rates as highly as Tempur-Predic.

Sealy have been the market leader in making high quality mattress for many years. The Sealy mattress rates highly in consumer reports and Sealy has millions of satisfied customers. If you prefer the more old-fashioned, inner spring system the a Sealy mattress represents good value for money for a high quality .

Tempur-Pedic Mattress or Sealy TrueForm Mattress - Which Is Best?

Memory foam mattresses are the new sensation in the mattress world and for god reason; there’s no doubting the benefits to be had on sleeping on a viscoelastic mattress. The first to manufacture the memory foam mattress was Tempur-Pedic and the company remains the market leader with this type of mattress. But do other brands, like the Sealy TrueForm Mattress, match the Tempur-Pedic mattress in terms of support, comfort and price?

With most comparisons you must try to compare like with like. Some for the following comparisons I will pitch the Tempur-Pedic CelebrityBed mattress to that of the Sealy TrueForm 11 Series mattress. Both of these mattresses are at the high-end of both quality and pricing for both companies. For the lower-end of the price category one should compare the Tempur-Pedic Classic mattress to the Sealy TrueForm 8 Series mattress but I won’t compare these models.

First off let’s be clear on one point. Both Tempur-Pedic and Sealy have different, patented memory foam; the memory foam is not supplied by a common source rather, both Tempur-Pedic and Sealy have researched, developed and manufacture their own distinct versions. Now let’s take a look at both products.

The Tempur-Pedic Mattress

The CelebrityBed mattress is Tempur-Pedic’s top-end mattress. It’s constructed with the Tempur-Pedic AirFlow System (a convoluted HR base), which is comprised of 2 4.3”support layers of proprietary TEMPUR material. The convoluted base helps to dissipate body heat, something that was always a problem with memory foam mattress. On top of the AirFlow System comes a 2.8" base layer (5.3 lb/ft3 density). Finally, you get one, 2” pillow top comfort layer (5.3 lb /ft3 density) memory foam. The mattress itself is contained in a removable cover; 67.5% cotton, 25% polyester, 7.5% cashmere, which can be easily unzipped for washing.

The Sealy TrueForm Mattress

The Sealy memory foam mattress is also multilayered, consisting of 2 layers of foam. The 9 Series from Sealy consists of a 6" poly core (made of high-density foam), 3.5" of regular visco (memory foam) and 1.5" of convoluted visco. The convoluted later of the Sealy TrueForm, like that of the Tempur-Pedic mattress) is designed to draw away body heat. Interestingly the convoluted layer of the Sealy forms the top layer whereas the convoluted layer of the Tempur-Pedic forms the base of the mattress. Which is more effective is hard to say. The Sealy TrueForm 9 Series also comes with a zip-off velour cover with added cashmere.

So how does each mattress compare. The Tempur-Pedic mattress is slightly heavier than the Sealy mattress. However, as neither mattress requires any flipping, weight is not an issue. You can get a box spring for each mattress – personally, this is a complete waste of money). However, the Sealy TrueForm mattress is compatible with Sealy’s PowerBase, so you can adjust the mattress to various positions, program in your favorite positions and even get a massage – I prefer to get a massage administered by human hand rather than a machine, but I suppose the Powerbase is great for watching television.

Both mattresses come with a 20 year limited warranty.

The most important question though is which mattress gives the best support and comfort. I have tested both mattresses and can honestly say that I could not rate the Tempur-Pedic mattress over the Sealy, or vice-versa. I have heard some comments that the memory foam used in the Sealy TrueForm mattress is slightly softer than that used in the Tempur-Pedic CelebrityBed – I didn’t notice this but perhaps I’m not as sensitive as some.

In conclusion I would rate the Sealy TrueForm higher than that of the Tempur-Pedic mattress, purely based on price. The Sealy mattress is substantially cheaper than that of the Tempur-Pedic, so why pay more? I sometimes wonder if the high price of a Tempur-Pedic mattress is so high because the company advertizes so much or, perhaps, it believes people will pay more because it is the market leader.

The Sealy Mattress - Quality and Comfortable Mattresses

For some items, cheaper isn’t better. When you are investing in a major purchase, such as a computer or a kitchen appliance, you want a quality brand that you know and trust. The same goes for buying a mattress. The average person who gets the recommended six to eight hours of sleep per night spends one third of his life in bed. That should qualify a mattress as a major purchase. When purchasing a new mattress, look for top brand names that ensure quality and comfort.

Well established markets, for any goods, are often recognized on a global scale. For consumers, this recognition is a promise of quality from that brand. A highly popular brand is not going to undercut their top position by putting an inferior product on the market under their name.

Popular brands depend largely on customer loyalty. A customer who buys an inferior product from a globally known brand will probably not remain loyal for very long. To promote loyalty, large brand name companies look to promote quality products that will keep customers happy for long periods of time rather than make a quick buck for themselves.

There are several trustworthy, popular brands on the market today, such as Sealy, Sleep Comfort and Tempur-Pedic to name a few. Each brand is competing for your loyalty. One way to catch your attention is to offer deals on popular products. When you go shopping for a new mattress, be sure to check out the different deals offered and the details that apply to each deal. Take advantage of the brand name fight for your loyalty.

For many years, Sealy has been at the top of the mattress world. Sealy has made a name for itself because of the quality and comfort of it Sealy mattresses. Sealy mattresses are durable because they are made with quality materials and enhanced with superior padding for maximum comfort. Users of Sealy mattresses find that a Sealy mattress can withstand decades of use without a lot of wear and tear.

If you find that a Sealy mattress is not the right mattress for you, make sure you are still investing in a quality mattress with at least a ten year warranty. Your sleep is an important part of your success in life, so make a solid investment in a trusted mattress brand.

A Review Of The Sealy Posturepedic Mattress

Sealy is one of the most well-known mattress manufacturers and have been making mattresses for longer than most. Many reviews give them a fairly decent score; the opinion generally being that they make a good quality mattress if somewhat overpriced. So what do you get for your money when you buy a Sealy Posturepedic mattress?

First off, Sealy Posturepedic does not refer to one mattress; rather Posturepedic is a generic term for a range of the company's mattresses. What is common to all these mattresses is the incorporation of the Sealy Comfort System, which comprises the following elements; a claim that the company uses the most advanced inner spring available and that it combines orthopedically correct support, advanced Comfort Materials and UniCased Edge Design.

Now let's get something straight: most mattress manufacturers claim that the springs used in their mattresses are the best you can buy but did you know that all of the well-known mattress companies (there are exceptions) get their coils from a single company, Leggett and Platt, for their highest-end mattresses down to their lowest. Also, other manufacturers state that they place their coils in such a way as to give you the best orthopedically correct support - what they mean is they place more coils, or heavier gauge coils under the shoulder and hip area.

The Sealy Posturepedic mattress also comes with a UniCased Edge Design. This gives the mattress a firmer edge, the idea being that your weight doesn't push the mattress out sideways so giving you more support. Again, this is nothing new or unique; I don't know of any top rated mattress that doesn't come with some sort of edging support.

The company also recommends that when your purchase a Sealy Posturepedic that you also purchase the box spring set to go with the mattress. The company claims that a box spring acts like a big shock absorber giving the sleeper even more comfort. But I find this explanation a little hard to swallow. Springs on top of springs? Surely the coils in the mattress should be good enough to give you the support and comfort you need. In my opinion box springs are not necessary, add to the cost and are a good little earner for the mattress manufacturer. Most Europeans use platform beds - no box spring set - and we don't seem to hear them complaining about alack of support or comfort.

We're also told that the materials used are hypo-allergenic and flame resistant. This is standard for all top end mattresses.

The are three basic models to the Sealy Posturepedic range; the Posturepedic, which has the features described above; the Body Series, which is claimed to be the most luxurious in the range; and the Reserve Collection, which features a memory foam layer on top of the mattress.

The above review of Sealy Posturepedic mattresses is quite short. You can find more detailed reviews on the net, many from individuals who have purchased the mattress. Most find the mattress to be quite comfortable though somewhat overpriced. A good mattress but perhaps, no better than other brand name mattresses.

There's More To Offer Than Just The Sealy PosturePedic

Sealy is the world's largest mattress manufacturer but most folks just know about the Sealy PosturePedic collection. But the company makes more than just the traditional innerspring kind, it also makes latex and the latest technical innovation; the memory foam mattress.

The Sealy PosturePedic range of mattresses is its core brand. The mattress was originally designed with the help of orthopedic surgeons. Until recently, manufacturers made mattresses without seeking any help from the medical profession; most still do. But, if you're seriously telling your customers that yours is going to support them better and give them a more restful night's sleep then you really ought to be designing and testing your product with healthcare professionals.

Of course Sealy aren't the only manufacturer now doing this, others like Kingsdown and Restonic are also designing mattresses with the help of the medical profession. In fact, the Kingsdown mattress is now sold in conjunction with the customer being analyzed using its patented Dormo-Diagnostics Sleep Machine - a computer program analyses your body shape, and weight distribution and compares this against medical studies involving millions of people. If you're thinking of buying a Sealy PosturePedic you should also take a look at the Kingsdown Body System mattress for comparison.

The Sealy SpringFree mattress is made from 100% latex. It's comprised of a solid high-density core and is laminated with different densities of latex foam to provide support and maximum comfort. Latex had gone out of fashion but it is becoming fashionable once again, due in part to the popularity of memory foam. Many want the pressure relieving properties of memory foam but want a safer product that is also not heat sensitive so the body molding effect is instantaneous. The latex used in the SpringFree collection is synthetic. If you prefer natural latex then check out the Jamison Talalay mattress.

The Sealy TrueForm mattress is a memory foam mattress. Memory foam is viscoelastic foam that is both weight and heat sensitive and conforms to the exact shape of the person lying down on it. Unlike other mattresses, this has been shown to distribute weight far more evenly and so minimize pressure points. All viscoelastic mattresses are made using a base block of high-density (non-memory) foam on top of which is laminated one or several layers of memory foam. All good memory foam should have a minimum of 5 lbs/cubic foot density - the TrueForm has 5.2 lbs.

Sealy make three different mattresses in the TrueForm collection; the 8, 9 and 11 Series. Each offers the same base layer but different configurations of the top, memory foam layers.

There is far more on offer than just the Sealy PosturePedic mattress. Both the latex and memory foam collections offer the consumer more choice as to type they want. Many consumer mattress reviews give all types a good overall rating. However, finding the perfect one is a very subjective matter and you are best advised to try out as many with as many brands - like the Jamison and Kingsdown mattress mentioned above - as you can before you buy.

Sealy Mattress For Comfort and Reliability

Cheap products are not to be depended always as you have to choose the quality ones if you are going for some of the more popular equipment such as kitchen wares, appliances etc. The same is to be practiced if you are to buy a mattress. Do you know that the fact shows that an average human who sleeps for almost eight hours per day spends about one third of his entire lifetime in the bed! Isn't that an amazing fact? It also makes us realize about the real worth of getting the best mattress to have a comfortable sleep.

While shopping for a mattress you have to check out the top brands known for their quality, comfort and reliability. A well recognized is known for their efforts across the globe and this proves to help people select the popular and reliable brand on their own. The trustworthiness of these companies depends on the fact and believes that these companies would never put up an inferior product to reap profits.

Customer loyalty is of primary importance to many of the major manufacturers. If a person is to get an inferior product from a leading brand, it is an obvious fact that he won't remain to be loyal to the company anymore. Therefore, loyalty is to be promoted for big companies to stand high in the market. For this, they depend on providing quality products for making the customers attract towards them for a lifetime.

One such brand which is known for its quality and customer loyalty in the mattress field is Sealy. There are several other companies who are undergoing tight competition in the market to grab customer attention and fidelity. Sealy mattress is known to be the topmost recommended brand among the mattress world.

The major aspect which makes them stand apart is the comfort along with superior quality. They also last for long as they are durable and the material used in the making is of topmost quality. To ensure better comfort, superior padding is enhanced. It is an outstanding feature which enables customers to return back to the same popular brand.

The most advantageous aspect while depending on Sealy mattress is that it is to last for long years. It also results in minimal wear and tear therefore worth the price. You can easily shop for Sealy mattress through online shopping. This new facility lets you check out the major products and other related ones right at home.

A Guide To Top-Rated Mattresses

With so many different mattresses and brands available looking for your next mattress can be rather daunting. To make your choice easier you should try to buy one of the top-rated mattresses from a leading mattress manufacturer. While not exhaustive, the following mattress reviews will help you narrow down your search for your next mattress.

Below is a concise mattress review of the top brands of mattresses on the market today. Each mattress manufacturer offers something slightly different so choosing the best mattress is really deciding on what your requirements are and how much you want to spend.

Sealy Posturepedic Mattress

Sealy have been making mattresses since 1818 and is the largest selling brand in the United States. Because Sealy mass-produces mattresses in such large numbers, the company affords today’s mattress shopper the best mid priced mattress sets available. Sealy offers a wide selection that blends comfort and durability with value to provide the best mid priced mattresses. As well as the Sealy Posturepedic mattress, there is also the Sealy TrueForm mattress, which incorporates memory foam in its build.

Simmons Beautyrest Mattress

Pocket coil mattresses offer one big advantage over traditional spring mattresses: you aren't disturbed by your partner's tossing and turning. Unlike conventional spring mattresses, each spring is contained in its own pocket, so move movement of one spring doesn't cause movement of other around it. The pocket coil mattress isn't new; Simmons has been producing a pocket coil mattress since 1925. Trademarked as the “Do Not Disturb” mattress, Simmons claims that its pocketed coil reduces more motion between partners than any other mattress in the industry today. Depending on the size of the mattress and other options, the Simmons Beautyrest ranges from mid-price range to expensive.

Jamison Smart Coil Mattress

Inner springs aren't new, however Jamison has taken the innerspring a stage further. Jamison took the world's best coil - the tempered steel, fine wire LFK coil which is open-ended and double offset - and engineered it to produce the Jamison Smart Coil. Smart Coils are put together with alternating right-turn and left-turn construction. This means that when weight is applied, the two coils work in tandem, thereby reducing partner disturbance. You can find this inner spring system in the Jamison Balance, Equalizer, and Vita Pedic mattresses. Jamison mattresses may not be as well known as the big players like Serta or Sealy, but they have a reputation for making excellent mattresses. Prices of Jamison mattress range from above mid-price to expensive.

Tempur-Pedic Mattress

If you've been looking for a new mattress you've probably heard about memory foam. This new and amazing material responds to body heat and weight to mould to the exact shape of the sleeper's body. What this means is that weight is distributed evenly and therefore optimal support is given whilst sleeping and so almost completely eliminates pressure points. This visco-elastic material first saw use in hospitals as an aid to sleep for those with back problems or pressure sores, but has recently been introduced to the general public. Tempur-Pedic was the company that pioneered the research and use of this new mattress. Many other manufacturers have now developed their own version of memory foam mattresses but a Tempur-Pedic memory foam remains the best. Tempur-Pedic mattresses aren't cheap but you're buying the last technical advances in mattress design.

Choosing The Right Mattress For Back Support

Do you suffer from back problems? Do you find that you wake feeling stiff, sore, and not rested? If so, then chances are you need a different mattress. Today, the market is flooded with wonderful mattress options designed specifically for people who suffer from back pain. These mattresses provide needed support that makes a huge difference in the way you sleep and the way you feel upon waking.

One such option is the magnetic mattress. Keep in mind that magnetic therapy has been around for a long time. The ideology behind this therapy is that by placing magnets on painful parts of the body, blood flow and circulation improve. Although magnetic therapy is surrounded by controversy, many people swear by it. With a magnetic mattress, the magnets are incorporated in the overall design.

A number of people who suffer from back pain and aching joints have tried the magnetic mattress, finding it provides relief. In fact, a number of studies have been conducted show that the magnetic mattress also provides comfort for people living with depression, arthritis, MS, and other chronic diseases. If you are interested in trying this type of mattress for better sleep, the most important thing is choosing one that has a large number of magnets. This can be done by determining the number of magnets per pad.

Another type of mattress that works quite well for people with back pain is the Sealy Posturpedic. Considered one of the most popular choices, this mattress provides comfort and firmness in one. First introduced to consumers in 1950, Sealy has continued to improve the technology and materials associated with the Posturpedic mattress. Although a little higher priced than other mattresses, this one has helped many people enjoy a better night’s sleep and it comes with a guarantee.

Now, another high-end option is the adjustable bed and mattress. In this case, the head and foot of the bed can be adjusted on a person-by-person basis. Each person can incline the bed according to comfort need, ensuring absolute support for the back. With a simple touch of a button, this type of bed offers changes according to the person’s needs. As far as the mattress, we recommend you stick with foam or latex material.

Finally, foam mattresses are exceptional for people with bad backs. This type of mattress is less expensive than some other types while still providing needed support and comfort. One of the best sellers is the memory foam mattress, which actually contours to your body. The benefit is that every time you move while sleeping, the mattress continues forming around your body like a glove. Available in a wide range of sizes, the foam mattress is often recommended by leading orthopedic doctors.

Natural Latex Mattress Is the New Foam

A natural latex mattress is the new wave in mattress cores. They have already moved through Europe and are now making their way to the United States. These mattresses offer a firm, but comfortable nights sleep. Even mainstream companies, like Sealy, are beginning to make latex mattresses.

The natural latex comes from countries like Sri Lanka, Malaysia, or Indonesia. It comes from the Hevea brasiliensis tree that is grown in the area on large tree plantations. The latex is harvested by removing thing strips of bark from the trees and allowing the substance to flow down the grooves into collection cups.

Finding a mattress that is all natural may be a difficult process. Most companies use a blend of synthetically made latex and natural latex to create their mattresses. This makes the core more resilient, according to the companies. The Naturalists are quick to disagree with this theory. They believe that there is a difference and that only an all natural latex mattress will be as durable as people desire. Since the price of these mattress can be much more than traditional mattresses (which need to be replaced every 5 to 10 years), it is important that they last a long time.

According to most experts, the natural latex mattress will last almost indefinitely. It is dense, but comfortable – mainly due to pincore holes placed through out the mattress. The larger the pincore holes, the softer the mattress.

Finding the natural latex mattress could be as simple as a few clicks of the keyboard, but remember that many companies are using a blend. Ask questions, check the company’s history, and make sure the mattress you purchase is completely natural.

While the expense may seem like a lot in the present, buying a natural latex mattress is an investment into the future. This may be one bed that you can actually hand down to your children with pride (and something that they want as well).

Simmons Beautyrest - How Does It Compare To The Competition?

Simmons Beautyrest is one of the most popular innerspring mattresses available.

But how does it compare in terms of comfort to other popular mattresses, such as Serta and Sealy Posturpedic? And how does it stack up comfort-wise compared to memory foam beds, air mattresses and waterbeds?

To find out, I spent hundreds of hours scouring through dozens of online forums, message boards, shopper websites, etc. assembling data from more than 1,600 people regarding what they think of their beds. What the study results reveal is quite interesting.

How Beautyrest Compares to Other Innerspring Mattresses

According to my research, 44% of Simmons Beautyrest owners indicated that the mattress was comfortable. This percentage is lower than Serta (45%), Kingsdown (52%) and Sealy Posturpedic (65%).

Simmons Beautyrest scoring below the other brands largely because it seemed to have more of a problem with sagging. In other words, many owners reported that the mattress lost support and comfort within three years of purchase because it sagged and / or left body impressions.

How Beautyrest Compares to Memory Foam and Other Types of Mattresses

Simmons Beautyrest did not fair any better against other types of mattresses, according to my research. Memory foam beds (such as Tempur-pedic), airbeds (such as Sleep Number) and waterbeds beat the Beautyrest in terms of comfort by a significant margin.

These other types of mattresses also tend to have other advantages over the Beautyrest. For example, they tend to have more durability, do a better job of discouraging dust mites and allergies, and have little if any need to be flipped.

Despite my research findings regarding the Simmons Beautyrest, it still may be the mattress that best suits you personally. So keep it on your list, but remember its shortcomings and disadvantages.

Mattress Shopping May Score You an Extra Snooze

If your bed is beginning to look and feel the worse for wear it may be time to update your mattress. One of the best ways to judge whether you need a new mattress is simply to take a close look at your existing one. Does it sag in the middle? Do you hear springs making a noise, every time you move around on it? Can you feel the shape of them in your back? And of course, the worst-case scenario is the springs actually stick through the cover.

One thing that is important to know is the amount of time that you actually spend in bed. Statistics show that we spend about one third of our life in bed so if you have decided on a new one, one great mattress manufacturer is the tempurpedic mattress. You should have a look at sealy mattress or a serta mattress as they are both excellent manufacturers as well.

To begin with, a soft mattress may feel great when you first lie down on it, but by the morning you could have aches and pains. Remember to get something that supports your back well and passes your test for firmness. A latex foam mattress is beautifully comfortable and will conform to the shape of your body. If you are in a matress showroom, don't be too shy to lie down, roll over and get comfortable. You will know which is yours when you lie on it.

Remember to shop for your personal needs instead of listening to a sales person who knows absolutely nothing about your lumbar region or possibly that slipped disc in your back. Do you sleep alone or with a partner? Is it wide enough to allow you to toss and turn? When it comes time to shop for just the right mattress, remember to buy quality as lower-priced mattresses tend to be thinner and poorly made, and will lack the firmness to give you support.

Don't Make This Mistake When Doing Mattress Comparisons

Mattress comparison shopping can be a bit redundant. One you have decided which mattress you are interested in from that point it is just a matter of price comparing. It is suggested that you go to a mattress warehouse that hosts many name brand mattresses so you can really look at all of them and decide which one or two that you have narrowed your selection down to. From there, you can do the price comparisons right from your home computer. Look around at all of the warehouses and stores that offer the same mattress that you want and see where you can get the best price and the best warranty.

There are a few things that you should know before you head out on the hunt such as there is a big difference between comfort and support. They are two different things entirely and older people sometimes still follow the same myth that everyone should sleep on a firm bed. That simply is not true, firm is not always better. Your body will let you know which mattress is best for you. The support from the bed comes from the inner coils inside of the bed. Comfort can not be measured because comfort will be something different to each individual.

Once you have decided on a brand, a size, and a type of mattress that you want you can shop from online dealers as well as from stores themselves that offer online ordering. Durability is important too but durability comes from quality. Quality comes from top brands such a Stearns & Foster and Sealy. These are branded names and represent high quality and their coil systems are tempered twice for maximum resiliency and durability. Prices do vary too as you can find mattresses for as little as $100 to almost $7,000. While you are comparing mattresses, compares prices as well. Remember that the average person spends one third of their life in bed so buying a mattress is really an investment although it might not seem as fun as shopping for a new living room set or a big screen TV, it is a valuable purchase indeed.

This is the tricky part about mattress comparisons, you look at major brands such as Sealy, Stearns & Foster, and Simmons and this name brand will stick no matter where you shop but what will change is the product name as a different name is assigned to each retailer. To stay a step ahead of the game, go online and you can locate websites that will do the conversions for you so you know the differences.

What's The Best Mattress For Back Pain? A Memory Foam Mattress-That's What

There is nothing more debilitating than back pain, especially when compounded with lack of sleep, and it's estimated that 50% of people suffer from various degrees of back pain sometime in their life. Many sufferers of back pain can benefit enormously by sleeping on the right mattress, but which one? Until now there was no set solution, but with the advent of memory foam mattresses, many sufferers of back pain are finally getting their first good night's sleep.

Memory foam mattresses are made from a visco-elastic material that was originally developed by NASA. The first company to see the benefits that this new compound offered the sleeper was a small Danish company called Tempur-Pedic. The company experimented and developed this new compound and soon the Tempur Pedic mattress was born. Tempur-Pedic carried out various clinical trials and soon found that memory foam mattresses - as they were soon called - offered support that was vastly superior to conventional mattresses.

Basically, a memory foam mattress is totally different from conventional mattresses. A memory foam mattress, as manufactured by Tempur-Pedic, consists of a solid block of visco-elastic material; there is no ticking, coils or frame. A memory foam mattress responds to heat and body pressure to mould itself to the exact shape of the sleeper's body. This means that weight is distributed evenly and the correct amount of support is given to each part of the body. A memory foam mattress delivers orthopedically correct alignment of your neck and spine.

Independent research, carried out by the Institution for Clinical & Physiological Research at the Lillhagen Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, found that the vast majority of the 23,000 patients studied suffered less pain when sleeping on a Tempur-Pedic mattress and experienced greatly enhanced and deeper sleep. And, to date, over 30,000 medical doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists and osteopaths world-wide recommend the TEMPUR Mattress and Neck Pillow for those who suffer from back pain.

Other mattress manufacturers soon woke up - pardon the pun - to the amazing benefits of memory foam mattresses. Needless to say they now offer their own version.

The TrueForm Posturepedic mattress by Sealy uses memory foam, and is designed to ensure the easing of pressure points to alleviate back pain. The Sealy TrueForm is a proprietary combination of multilayered memory foam.

The International Touch is the memory foam mattress made by Serta. This mattress uses Serta's patented KoolComfort technology to ensure that the mattress remains cool when in use. It also incorporates a fiber layer to wick away moisture that helps regulate body temperature. This layer is non-allergenic. Finally, Serta claim that their memory foam mattress is up to 30% than their rivals - whether it's as good is debatable.

Another of the big players, Jamison, also makes a memory foam mattress. The Jamison Omalon and Visco Foam mattress. Jamison claim that the manufacturing process of their version of a memory foam mattress 'densifies' the cells contained with the structure of the visco-elastic material, thereby giving more support and durability.

To answer; what is the best mattress for back pain is easy: a memory foam mattress. However, memory foam isn't to everyone's liking. Memory foam lacks the 'springiness' of traditional mattresses. A memory foam mattress feels quite firm initially, before it gradually moulds itself to the shape of the sleeper's body. Sleeping on a memory foam mattress can take a couple of weeks to get use to.

Visco-elastic memory foam mattresses haven't been on the market all that long, but many consumers are giving memory foam mattresses excellent reviews. And there is no doubt that memory foam mattresses are proving a popular choice for those who suffer from back pain. As to which is the best brand of memory foam mattress, that's not so easy. Serta, Sealy and Jamison make fine mattresses; both conventional and memory foam, but to my mind, the original memory foam mattress is still the best; the Tempur-Pedic. But don't take my word for it, go and try them out for yourself.

Pocketed Coil Mattress Reviews

What follows is a short review of the most popular and top rated pocket coil mattresses. Pocketed coil mattresses have been around for about 80 years and many people find this type of mattress the most comfortable, especially those whose sleep with a partner whose weight is substantially heaver or lighter than themselves.

Pocketed coils are individual steel inner-spring coils encapsulated in pockets. These are then attached to form the mattress. Because the springs are not interconnected there is more motion separation than conventional inner-spring mattresses. All top rated pocketed coil mattresses use high-tempered steel coils. Additionally, each mattress manufacturer has unique design points that separate them from their competitors. Pocketed coil mattresses are also married together with a variety of materials such as, latex, silk or wool fibres or memory foam, which gives each mattress an unique feel of support and comfort.

Jamison Pocketed Coil Mattress

Jamison marries its pocketed coils to a variety of materials including Talalay Latex, Temperature Sensitive Memory Foam, or Omalon, each one offering the consumer different comfort requirements. Unlike other manufacturers Jamison has joined the coil pockets at the center creating a 'free-floating system' that, it claims, provides 100% coil conformity. The company also claims that the Jamison pocket coil mattress has 27% more support in the center zone than its competitors where you body needs it most giving you correct spinal alignment. There are many manufactures of pocketed coil mattresses and whether you really do get 27% more support than other mattresses on the market is debatable. You can choose firm, plush to pillow top in Jamison Pocketed Coil mattresses.

Sealy Correct Comfort Mattress

Sealy's patented PostureTouch pocketed coil system claims to be the most advanced in the industry - but what manufacturers doesn't claim to offer the most advanced system? The PostureTouch coil has been designed to be initially soft to the touch becoming progressively firmer as weight is applied, thereby giving both comfort and support. The Sealy pocketed coil mattress also comes with the MiracleEdge edge that encases the pockets of coils, which the company claims gives consistent comfort and support at every point across the mattress.

Overall mattress rating: 4/5

Simmons Beautyrest mattress

The Simmons pocketed coil mattress selling point is its unique 'two storey coil on coil' construction. Basically, what this means is you get a top layer of coils designed to conform to your body shape thereby giving you the comfort you want whereas the bottom layer of firmer coils provide the support. The mattress also comes with 'Ultra 360 degree Foam Encasement'. This feature consists of 3 inches of high density foam edge support giving the mattress consistent support right to the edge. You can upgrade to Visco Memory Foam, Latex Foam, and combinations of Visco Memory and Latex Foam and all mattresses come in Firm, Plush or Pillow Top comfort options.

Overall mattress rating: 3/5

Pocketed Coil mattresses remain a popular choice for many. The biggest downside to pocketed coil mattresses is there durability: a pocketed coil mattress will not last as long as an inner-spring mattress. Therefore it is essential to purchase a good quality pocketed coil mattress from a top rated mattress manufacturer.

The Perfect Futon Covers and Futon Mattresses

If you are out looking for a new bed, the selection on the market is awesome. It includes bunk bed, loft beds, canopy beds, platform beds, traditional coil or spring beds and of course, futons. Most people still have the impression that the futon mattress is like sleeping on a bed of rocks. Well times have changed. It is true that between 1968 and 1974, the industry hand-made the mattresses by stuffing cotton into pockets. Often the process lacked consistency thus creating an uncomfortable sleeping surface. Futon covers have also changed dramatically. In the past, you may have only had a few designs and colors to choose from. Today, the selection of futon covers is almost unlimited.

Depending on how often your futons are going to be slept on, there is a different futon mattress to suit your needs. The more often it will be used, the thicker the mattresses should be. Daily use ones would likely be 9 inches. Some great options to consider include the Sealy Posturepedic, Posture Lux and the Eternity. If it is going be used only occasionally, good choices would be the Sealy Deluxe 6 inch. Many other top manufacturers are also making these and your best bet is to go and check them out at a local retailer. You will also find a good selection of futon covers at your local retailer but you will find a great selection on line.

Some of the most popular futon covers on the market include real and faux leather micro suede, plaid, denim, contemporary designs, southwest designs and tropical prints. Many are machine washable and we highly recommend this option. Most come in twin, full and queen sizes to fit your futon mattress. Because of their versatility, futons offer a great way to help decorate any room in the house. They can be a focal point, or can nicely blend in to the room’s décor, the choice is up to you.

What is the Size of a Queen Mattress?

While buying a mattress we look at the quality, the softness and the color of the mattress, but we forget to note down the size of the mattress for the bed. There are many sizes of mattress available in the market.

While buying a mattress you should first take note of the size of the bed and the required mattress. The queen size mattress is 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. If you buy mattresses other than the queen size mattress then the size would be smaller and won’t fit your bed. The queen beds are larger than other beds.

Queen size beds are recommended for couples, as there is enough space to twist and turn and sleep well at night. Queen size mattresses are the most popular mattresses. While buying a mattress other points to be kept in mind are:

Check whether the mattress does not have any bumps in it, the mattress should be uniform all over.

Check the quality of the material used and whether the materials used are anti allergic or not.

Check whether there is a warranty provided by the mattress company, there are many mattress companies, which provide 10- 20 years warranty. Queen size mattresses are the most in demand mattresses.

Restonic Mattress Reviews

Restonic is in the top ten of mattress companies in the U.S. It makes a variety of different types of mattresses from the traditional inner spring through to memory foam mattresses to even magnetic mattress. Here are some reviews of the different Restonic mattresses.

The ComfortCare range of mattress is a traditional inner spring mattress. The company uses - like every other company - a plethora of jingoistic terms to promote its products. The first such term is the 'Marvelous Middle'. Basically, the middle has more springs that are strategically placed to give the sleeper a better night's sleep. This is old hat. Manufacturers have been building mattresses with better support in the middle since they first began making mattresses. Again, we're also told about SpiraLok Technology and how it reduces motion transfer. Again, it's a piece of wire that is wound around the top of each coil. Many manufacturers employ something similar. And, with any inner spring mattresses you're always going to experience some motion transference no matter who made it. Finally, each Restonic mattress in the ComfortCare range comes with SuperEdge Plus Technology. This is just a piece of high density foam wrapped around the edge of the mattress; its job is to encase the springs. I don't know of any manufacturer of high quality mattresses that does not do this.

So, how does the ComfortCare mattress rate? Well, its reviews are generally favorable but many seem to prefer a Sealy Posturepedic, but the Restonic is a lot cheaper.

Restonic also make air mattresses. They're cheap and often used in trailers and camper vans. If you really are interested in a good quality air bed mattress then you'd be better advised to look at a Simmons Luxaire.

The Providence is a latex mattress from Restonic. The company buys in its latex from a company called Latex Foam International. However, Restonic isn't the only company that buys in its latex from Latex Foam International; other top brands include the Sealy SpringFree, Simmons BeautyRest, Serta Perfect Day, Stearns and Foster to name but a few. So, if you are thinking of buying a latex mattress from any of these companies you will be buying the same product. Each company, will offer different takes on it though, whether it's firmness, damask coverings or some other slick sales pitch. The Restonic mattress will be of the same quality as any of them so base your decision on price and forget about the sales pitch.

The memory foam mattress is in vogue right now so it isn't surprising Restonic has its own version called the HealthRest. You get a high density foam base (non memory foam), a layer of convoluted foam (to dissipate body heat) and a final top layer of memory foam. The configuration of each of these will depend on the model you choose. The overall opinion of the Restonic memory foam mattress is that it sleeps a little on the soft side and can develop depressions fairly quickly. However, this is a general problem with any memory foam mattress.

Restonic make mattresses that are probably as good as any of the big players, especially its inner spring and latex versions. Consumer reviews generally give a pretty good ranking to a Restonic mattress, especially the ComfortCare range.

How to Remove Urine From Mattress?

Removing urine from carpets and mattresses is not very difficult. Urine contains salts and when they are on the mattress they smell. The smell of the urine won’t go away quickly. It will stay in the air for some days or weeks. Even if you put the mattress in sunlight for drying, the smell won’t go away.

Urine contains bacteria and if urine is left on the mattress for many hours or days molds or fungus could form and spoil the mattress completely. You need to take care of your mattress and try to remove the urine stains as quickly as possible.

During the rainy season the urine in the mattress along with the humidity in the air makes the smell worse. Spraying deodorants won’t make the smell go away from the mattress. You need to clean the urine from inside the mattress so that they don’t smell, and not only from the upper part of the mattress. There are many ways for people to remove the urine from the mattress. Some people pour vinegar on the mattress and suction it with a vacuum machine. Putting alcohol on the urinated area is another idea. Some people put shampoo on the mattress and clean it and dry the mattresses in the sun.
