If the answer to all these questions is yes, then isn't it about time you considered getting yourself a Swedish tempurpedic mattress or pillow (or both) for your bed?

If you sleep on either a too soft or too hard mattress or pillow you can actually be causing more damage to your body than you think. So all the mornings you wake up with a stiff neck, your body is aching and your are still tired is because of the mattress you are sleeping on.

There are many distinct advantages to be had from using a Swedish tempurpedic mattress or pillow and these are as follows:-

1. It conforms to the body's contour so there are no pressure points on the body when a person is a sleep. In fact it provides maximum support to the whole of the body when a person is sleeping.

2. They retain their shape better and for longer because of its visco-elastic properties. This is all down to the way the memory foam is manufactured.

3. They are provided with a 10 year warranty. So if there are problems with your Swedish tempurpedic mattress just contact them and they will get the matter resolved for you. But remember the problem has to occur within 10 years of you purchasing the item in the first place.

4. The tempurpedic mattress also has orthopedic properties which makes it suitable for people who suffer from joint injuries or pain. In fact these mattresses were first used in hospitals for orthopedic patients.

5. They are temperature sensitive and will also conform to a person's body temperature when they lie on it. So people often find that they feel warm and cuddly when they sleep on one. However, there are others who complain that it gets too warm when they lay down on it for long periods of time. But we are all different and to combat this problem you can use a mattress topper in order to make it more comfortable.

Pillow Top Mattresses - Things to Know

When they are looking to buy Pillow-top mattresses, many people look just for the cheapest price. This leads them inevitably to purchasing plain, boring imitation Pillow-top bedding that they have to spend hours tossing and turning on at night. If you like the classical styles and comfort of Pillow-top mattresses, you do not have to settle for mass market discount stores, nor do you have to shop at a place that serves demitasses of espresso to ultra-rich, over-privileged urbanites who live in $1000 per square foot lofts. There is a compromise if you are seeking Pillow-top mattresses: just look on the Internet.

Online furniture stores are generally lower in their prices of Pillow-top mattresses than conventional brick and mortar stores because they do not have the additional costs of a showroom with commissioned salespeople. Competition is very heavy on the Internet, so there is a constant battle to gain loyal customers. You, as the buyer have only to gain from this, as it means that many online furniture stores fight to offer the lowest prices. Look to see if there is a low price guarantee that will meet or beat the lowest price - including shipping - that you can find online or in the real world.

Online stores are more likely to offer free in home delivery. For a nominal fee, these stores may also agree to set up your Pillow-top mattresses and remove the old ones. It is always best to opt for the professional movers rather than relying upon yourself to do the job. The professionals have much more experience in expeditiously and carefully moving your Pillow-top mattress, so as to get it into your home and set up in the least amount of time possible. Also, by allowing professionals to deliver your Pillow-top mattresses, any damage incurred during shipping or delivery will be covered by either the movers themselves or the retailer.

Do not forget to look at insurance policies for your new bedding. Often these are called furniture protection policies and they can differ from store to store. These polices act basically as insurance for your furniture in the event of stains, scratches, or burn marks. Should anything under the policy occur, the plan will cover the cost of repair and or replacement of the affected area. It is always a good idea to purchase one of these as it will save you in the long run the cost of finding and paying for a private mattress repair company.

Locating assistance and getting questions answered can be a difficult task on the Internet. But thanks to the power of technology, live customer service representatives are only just a phone call or a live Internet chat away. You will not even have to wait on email, as you would have in the past. Many online furniture stores will have the live chat option available, but not all of them. It is best to shop at a furniture store where you know that you can get immediate assistance without the high pressure sales pitches so often seen in traditional stores.

What are the Different Mattress Measurements?

While buying a mattress most of us lay stress on the softness, the materials used in manufacturing and color of the mattress. We forget the mattress size. The length and breadth of the mattresses are different for different beds. The mattress size depends on the bed size and for every bed there are various types of mattresses.

Buying a small mattress is a big mistake and if your legs are completely not on the mattress and come out of it then you cannot sleep well. While sleeping in a bed you require enough space for movement and the mattress you choose should be very comfortable to turn and twist at night.

The measurements of some mattress are:::

Queen Size Beds
60”wide x 80” long
152 X 203 CM

Twin Size Beds
39” wide x 75” long
99 X 191 CM

Long Twin Size Beds
39” wide x 80” long
99 X 203 CM

California King Size Beds
72” wide x 84” long
183 X 214 CM

Full Size or Double Beds
54” wide x 75” long
137 X 191 CM

King Size Beds
78” wide x 80” long
198 X 203 CM

While buying a mattress make sure you buy the right size. There are various designs of mattresses available in the market.

Mattress Sets

Mattress sets consist of the mattress and its foundation, marked by the manufacturer as a single unit for sale. Mattress sets available nowadays have many advanced features because of the development in technology. These sets are made with the ultimate aim of providing comfort as well as sound sleep to individuals. Comfortable cushioning is a specialty of modern mattress sets. These sets also have additional treatments for soft surfaces.

Persons who are about to buy mattress sets may sometimes confuse box springs with foundations. Foundations and box springs are not the same. A foundation is usually a box with a slat and fabric cover. It may or may not come with springs. Foundations with springs are generally known as box springs. These springs allow the foundation to distribute the weight load evenly. The sets obtained at much reduced rates do not have matching box springs. In such cases, it is necessary to ask the sales person for box springs.

There are mattress sets specially designed for stomach and side sleepers. For stomach sleepers, mattresses have hard pads or steel bands across the system, which support the body. The mattresses include mesh plastic or any other conforming material over the system for side sleepers.

Mattress sets are identified as an important item that enhances charm and beauty of rooms. When you buy mattresses, discount is allowed for mattresses purchased as sets, in most cases.

For mattress sets, it is better to go for those with patent features. Secondly, it is necessary to avoid buying generic mattresses. Thirdly, customers can enquire about specification sheets for mattresses, which contain all necessary details about mattresses. In addition, mattresses of better quality and branded ones have a warranty of at least 10 years minimum.

How a Heated Mattress Pad Eases Aches and Pains

Heated Mattress Pad

When it comes to relaxing, nothing helps out quite like a heated mattress pad on your memory foam mattress. When you apply heat to aching muscles and lower back pain, it is a great source of relaxation. Americans today suffer with lower back pain more than ever. The purchase of a heated mattress pad to lay over your memory foam mattress is an easily accessible method for relieving that pain. Electric blankets have been used for many years, but the heated mattress pad will provide relief for your arthritis or other joint problems in a more effective way. Since heat always moves upwards, it is better to have it rise up from the lower part of the body and spread to the other areas rather than blow away in the air through the electric blanket. Your bed will retain heat much better when heated from the mattress up.

When purchasing a heated mattress pad for your memory foam mattress, you will find they come in various colors and sizes. A very popular one is the pillow-top heated mattress pad. Complete with its 200-thread count, cotton-filled, 100% polyester cluster fiber, and half-inch thickness, this pad is one of the most luxurious on the market today. It has a digital control, so all you have to do is set it at your most comfortable temperature and the system will pamper you from there. There is a sensor built-in that responds to the temperature of your room and your body, and adjusts itself to the right temperature.

Applying heat for 20 minutes is a good way to get complete relief from those sore and aching muscles. Normally, you will find that a therapeutic temperature is approximately 400 Celsius. Getting a new lease on life has never been easier, and it all starts with proper blood flow to reduce your stiffness. Learn more about the different causes and factors related to back pain as well. This will help you determine which type of heated mattress pad will work the best over your memory foam mattress.

Ways to Protect Your Child from Bunk Bed Accidents and Injury At Home

Bunk beds are frequently used as a child's first regular bed after the child outgrows a crib. Some bunk beds also are used separately as twin beds for older children and even adults. Every year, thousands of children receive treatment for injuries associated with bunk beds. Most of these injuries are fairly minor and occur when children fall from the beds. But there are other less obvious yet potentially very serious hazards associated with bunk bed structures that have entrapped children and resulted in suffocation or deaths.

1. Head Entrapment under Bunk Bed Guard Rails.

This can cause death to young children. To reduce the risk of your child slipping feet first into the space between the lower edge of a guardrail and the top surface of the mattress never allow children under 6 years-old on the upper bunk. Also close the space between the lower edge of the guardrail and upper edge of the bed frame to 3-1/2 inches or less.

2. Falling Mattresses or Foundations Can Cause Injury or Even Kill A Small Child.

Mattresses or foundations resting only on ledges need cross wires, or other means of support to help prevent dislodgement, even when beds are not stacked. Securely fasten supports to ledges of both beds with screws or bolts. Supports can be provided by wood slats, metal straps or sturdy wires. Be sure crossties are under the mattress foundation of each bed and that they are secured in place even if bunks are used as twin beds. Fasten additional cross ties underneath the mattress foundation of both beds.

3. Using the Wrong Size Mattress Can Cause Injury or Even Death

Strangulation deaths can occur if a child falls through an opening created between the mattress and headboard or footboard when a regular length mattress is used in an extra long bed frame. Choose a mattress that correctly fits your bed.

4. Use of the Bed without Rails on Both Sides

Death or injury may occur if a very young child rolls off the bed and becomes entrapped between the wall and the side of the bed not having a guardrail. This hazard is not unique to bunk beds. Regular beds can present the same hazard. Always use two side guardrails on the upper bunk. Keep guardrails securely in place at all times no matter what the age of the child. Children move about during sleep and may roll out of bed.

5. Playing Around Bed Furniture Frequently Contributes To Accidents.

Teach children that rough play is unsafe around and on beds and other furniture. Emphasize to children to use the ladder and not chairs or other pieces of furniture to climb into or out of the top bunk.

6. Metal Bunk Beds

To help avoid bunk bed collapse, inspect all mattress support fin tabs and pockets for breaks or cracks in the metal and welds. The fin tabs are inserted into pockets located near each of the bed's eight corners. Stop using damaged beds as bunks and contact the manufacturer or importer for repair or replacement.

How to Choose the Right Twin Mattress

There are so many mattress and bedding choices available that it can be overwhelming when you start planning to furnish or refurnish your child’s bedroom or the extra bedroom in your house. There is a wide variety of choices when it comes to box springs and mattresses. Each option has to be examined, so you can determine the benefits and downfalls in both quality and size.

Five standard sizes of mattresses exist to choose from. These include twin, full, queen, king and California king mattresses. The twin mattress is the smallest of the mattress sizes, but it is well suited for children and spare bedrooms. Let’s discover what makes the twin mattress a good choice for children’s rooms and extra bedrooms.

Specification of a Twin Mattress

A twin mattress is commonly referred to as a single bed because it is designed to comfortably fit a single person rather than a couple. A standard size twin mattress measures 39 inches wide by 75 inches long, leaving it at the smallest of the available mattresses. Twin mattresses come in many different styles and prices, so you are sure to find one that fits your style and your budget.

Why Buy a Twin Mattress

The greatest advantage of a twin mattress is the size. A twin mattress is small enough to fit in just about any size room without taking over the entire room. Spare bedrooms usually aren’t large enough to accommodate large beds in addition to furniture, but a twin mattress is often the perfect fit.

Twin mattresses are also the standard size for bunk beds and trundle beds, making them the first choice for a child’s bedroom. If your children share a bedroom, placing two twin beds in the room can make life much easier for the children. Children want their independence, and giving each of them their own bed in a shared room makes them feel more independent.

Down Side of a Twin Mattress

The one main disadvantage of the twin mattress is the same as its main benefit: its size. Because the twin mattress is specifically designed for only a single occupant, couples will probably find the twin mattress cramped and uncomfortable. Also, due to its length, adults often find that the twin mattress is too short to enable comfortable sleeping over long periods of time.

Full Size Mattress Sets

It is inevitable that you will one day have to replace your old mattress. The quality of the old one will determine the length of time it lasts. Will you require complete full size mattress sets? As you get older, you may find that you require more room in the bed to sleep. Many people like to stretch out completely while sleeping. This can cause problems if both people that share the sleeping space do this.

When should you replace your old mattress with a fill size mattress set? Several things can be checked to see if it is time to replace the one. If it is of poor quality then it will not last as long as a top quality one. If you happen to sleep in one particular spot of the mattress, you will see a definite wear pattern. If this is the case, you can simply flip it over and get several more years use out of it. Remember, you get what you pay for. Therefore, it you skimped and bought a bargain one, it will not last you a very long time.

How often is the mattress used? Obviously, it will last much longer if it is not used very often, like perhaps in a guest room. A child's mattress will not last too long for several reasons. One being the child will outgrow it. Another is if the youngster uses it as a trampoline! That will wear it out much quicker than normal usage. You will likely not require this for a child's room for quite some time.

How you care for your mattress will also determine whether it needs replacing sooner rather than later. A new mattress will need to be flipped every few weeks or so for the first few months. Then it should be turned every few months, this helps the mattress receive equal wear on all areas. This includes full size mattress sets as well. Every size should be treated the same.

Another factor in the life of a mattress is the weight of the people sleeping on it. The more weight on the mattress the more wear and tear it will receive. As mentioned before, as we get older our body changes and we may find that new ones are necessary before the old one has worn out. If it is in your budget, then you should re-evaluate your current mattress on a yearly basis.

Lastly, before purchasing full size mattress sets, you should do a rest test first. Try it before you buy it. Bed retailers allow their customers to test out their stock in the store before buying. Lie down and see how it feels! Not for a couple of minutes, test it for fifteen or twenty minutes to get a real good feel for it. Then you can make an informed decision on your purchase.

Restonic Mattress Reviews

Restonic is in the top ten of mattress companies in the U.S. It makes a variety of different types of mattresses from the traditional inner spring through to memory foam mattresses to even magnetic mattress. Here are some reviews of the different Restonic mattresses.

The ComfortCare range of mattress is a traditional inner spring mattress. The company uses - like every other company - a plethora of jingoistic terms to promote its products. The first such term is the 'Marvelous Middle'. Basically, the middle has more springs that are strategically placed to give the sleeper a better night's sleep. This is old hat. Manufacturers have been building mattresses with better support in the middle since they first began making mattresses. Again, we're also told about SpiraLok Technology and how it reduces motion transfer. Again, it's a piece of wire that is wound around the top of each coil. Many manufacturers employ something similar. And, with any inner spring mattresses you're always going to experience some motion transference no matter who made it. Finally, each Restonic mattress in the ComfortCare range comes with SuperEdge Plus Technology. This is just a piece of high density foam wrapped around the edge of the mattress; its job is to encase the springs. I don't know of any manufacturer of high quality mattresses that does not do this.

So, how does the ComfortCare mattress rate? Well, its reviews are generally favorable but many seem to prefer a Sealy Posturepedic, but the Restonic is a lot cheaper.

Restonic also make air mattresses. They're cheap and often used in trailers and camper vans. If you really are interested in a good quality air bed mattress then you'd be better advised to look at a Simmons Luxaire.

The Providence is a latex mattress from Restonic. The company buys in its latex from a company called Latex Foam International. However, Restonic isn't the only company that buys in its latex from Latex Foam International; other top brands include the Sealy SpringFree, Simmons BeautyRest, Serta Perfect Day, Stearns and Foster to name but a few. So, if you are thinking of buying a latex mattress from any of these companies you will be buying the same product. Each company, will offer different takes on it though, whether it's firmness, damask coverings or some other slick sales pitch. The Restonic mattress will be of the same quality as any of them so base your decision on price and forget about the sales pitch.

The memory foam mattress is in vogue right now so it isn't surprising Restonic has its own version called the HealthRest. You get a high density foam base (non memory foam), a layer of convoluted foam (to dissipate body heat) and a final top layer of memory foam. The configuration of each of these will depend on the model you choose. The overall opinion of the Restonic memory foam mattress is that it sleeps a little on the soft side and can develop depressions fairly quickly. However, this is a general problem with any memory foam mattress.

Restonic make mattresses that are probably as good as any of the big players, especially its inner spring and latex versions. Consumer reviews generally give a pretty good ranking to a Restonic mattress, especially the ComfortCare range.

Air Beds In Present Day

A large number of peopel seem to be avoiding the purchase of an air bed as a result of a lackluster experience in the past. Although this is certainly understandable, people need to realize that the air beds of the past couldn't be any more different from the ones available today. Given that a quality air bed is purchased, almost all of the things which were once issues should no longer be areas of concern.

The first impression which most seem to be under is that they'll wake up to a deflated air bed come the first night of utilization. This scenario is not only unlikely but downright outrageous. Modern air mattresses are constructed of heavy vinyl and are designed to support large amounts of weight. In contrast, older air mattresses were made with either thin plastic or vinyl. This thin material made them very prone to air loss.

The second concern on the minds of many is that of comfort. For some reason, it is believed that air bed manufacturers would be ridiculous enough (as they've been in the past) to leave bare vinyl atop their air beds. Let me assure you that these manufacturers know what they're customers demand and thus line the top of their beds with a comfortable, velvet-like material. With that, comfort should be anything but a concern.

Finally, many have been mislead into thinking that they'll be inconvenienced in adjusting the firmness of their mattress. Current air bed models offer the convenience of firmness adjustment from a remote control. This is far less burdensome when compared to the trial-and-error method involved with older air mattresses.

Now that you've been dug out of air bed lies, we hope you will put some thought into purchasing one. Chances are in your favor that your new air bed experience will be worthwhile.

Raised Air Bed Great For Guests And Master Bedroom

In recent years, there have been many new styles of inflatable air mattresses introduced to the market. Because of the new choices, many people are tending to move away from the low air mattress beds that had you feeling like you were sleeping on the floor. With the advent of the raised air bed, the traditional inflatable mattresses are being passed over in favor of these higher beds of air.

First of all, the closer you are to the floor, the colder it is going to be during the night, making it harder to be comfortable and rest without interruption. This type of a bed gets you up off the floor and this fact alone should help to improve your quality and quantity of sleep.

Another reason that a raised air bed is much preferred over the older air mattresses that are down at ground level, has to do with being able to get in and out of them easily. For your overnight guests who have difficultly getting up and down from floor level, raised air beds are a very thoughtful way to make them feel more welcomed and comfortable.

And, if you are using the air mattress bed for yourself as your main mattress, then wouldn't you much rather start your day in a sitting position coming out of a raised bed of air than trying to haul yourself up off the floor? There's not a much better way to send yourself the message that you are getting older, than to start your day off grunting and groaning just to get out of your bed.

The third primary reason why the raised type of bed is becoming so popular is because you are not in any danger of your hips or shoulders ending up against the floor as sometimes happens with a low-to-the-ground, older inflatable one you might have. Unfortunately, even the best inflatable mattress has a tendency to lose some air during the night.

However, with the raised ones you are starting out with a much greater volume of air, so a loss of ten percent will hardly be noticeable. In the thinner, older style, such a loss can make a big difference. Also, in general, the quality of the materials used in the raised ones is reported to be improved which also helps to minimize the air loss during the course of the night.

If you decide to purchase a raised brand model to have on hand for overnight guests, then you may also encounter a strange tendency that others have experienced: you just might decide to trade in your old, traditional mattress beds. Many people have set up these raised ones for their guests, taken a moment to test it or even taken a nap on it and decided that it was much more comfortable than the mattress in their master bedroom.

More and more people are finding that a raised air bed is a good alternative for their main bed because they are so comfortable and supportive. Often people report that they enjoyed the best night's sleep they have had in a long time. One reason for this is that they can very easily be adjusted to just the right firmness. You can fine-tune the air supply until you have just the right level of support.

4 Benefits Of A Memory Foam Mattress

Memory foam is a term that is heard on a frequent basis today but there are still many people out there who are not completely familiar with this term and the benefits that apply to a memory foam mattress. This is a new sleep technology that needs to be understood fully before you buy a mattress of any kind, as it could help make your decision for you. They could be the most comfortable mattress you have ever slept on.

There are many benefits to them that each and every consumer needs to be aware of.

• Better quality of sleep
• Less soreness (and stiffness) in the morning
• No annoying pressure points
• Longer lasting mattress

These are all great benefits that everyone wants to have associated with the "dream" mattress of their choice. Everyone wants to experience a better quality of sleep and less sore muscles and joints in the morning. A memory foam mattress literally forms to the shape of your body each and every time you move during the night which makes for a more comfortable and supported sleep all night long.

A memory foam mattress can be a longer lasting mattress because there are absolutely no springs in the mattress which means as years pass, there will be no springs to poke you in the back during the night. Although you may find that the price of one is quite a bit higher than the traditional spring filled mattress, they last much longer and provide the level of comfort you are looking for, which makes it a well worth it investment.

This new sleep technology is constantly being updated and tweaked which means you are getting the absolute best mattress on the market today and perhaps even the best sleep.

Memory Foam Mattress Research Reveals If Tempur-Pedic Beats Less Pricey Isoform and Novaform

You get what you pay for when it comes to memory foam mattresses, right?

In other words, will the more expensive Tempur-pedic mattress provide the best comfort and durability?

To find this answer, among others, I spent at least 250 hours scouring through nearly 50 online forums, message boards, consumer websites, etc. gathering data from at least 1,600 people on what they think of their mattresses. What the research results show is interesting.

The focus of my memory foam mattress research and analysis was on Tempur-pedic, Novaform and Bergad / Isoform brands. In terms of price, Tempurpedic is the most expensive, followed by Bergad / Isoform and Novaform, respectively.

Comfort

The research revealed that in regard to comfort, Tempurpedic rated below Bergad / Isoform and Novaform, the two less pricey brands.

Specifically, an impressive 91% of Bergad / Isoform owners said that their mattress was comfortable. 80% of Novaform owners said that their mattress was comfortable, and 68% of Tempur-pedic owners indicated that their mattress was comfortable.

So much for having to pay a premium to get the best comfort.

Durability

In regard to durability, you may be thinking that the less pricey memory foam mattress brands will be easily beaten by Tempur-pedic. Not so.

According to the research, about 10% of both Tempur-pedic and Novaform mattress owners reported premature sagging of the bed. (Premature sagging is loss of support that significantly reduces mattress comfort and occurs within three years of purchase.) And just 1-2% of Bergad / Isoform mattress owners reported any premature sagging.

What you need to know

Tempur-pedic is a fine memory foam mattress brand, but there are less expensive alternatives that can provide as good, if not better, comfort and durability, according to my research.

First, you must understand two basic mattress construction terms. The core is where the springs and structure are. This is what determines the longevity and support. Old mattresses used an inner spring design. Usually, the more inner springs used in a mattress, the better it was. Not so anymore. A current mattress design uses “zones” to locate the number and types of springs since our body weight is not evenly distributed, then why should the springs in our mattress?

The second construction term for a mattress is the upholstery. Several different types of foams, fibers, and materials make up this top layer. This gives the mattress the pillow top or soft feeling. Springs are there for support of this comfort layer.

I personally am sleeping on a Simmon’s Beauty Rest Back Care mattress. It has the wrapped spring coils and several comfort layers. It even has some memory foam. It is an excellent bed and it was reasonably priced.

I looked at several models today. It seems the inner spring mattress will be going to the way side after a few years. Everyone wants a memory foam bed. They have several to choose from, but they are all made out of the same material. This foam is nice and Sealy and Serta have finally come on board with their versions. The tepurpedic has been out there the longest and seems to be the best quality at the best price.

However, foam mattresses just don’t look like a regular bed. They look like a flashback to the days of the popular water beds. Its just not what we are accustomed to seeing. King Koil came out with a combination of this model. A traditional looking mattress, with contemporary foam for a core. You get the look of a regular bed with the benefit of a solid foam core. No more inner springs.

Comes to find out, the most sold mattress in the store where I was at, was the King Koil brand as I described above. Actually, the top 3 sellers were all King Koil brand, with only one of the three have an inner spring coil.

Beds weren’t meant to last forever. You can chunk it and get another. If it’s bad enough for you to get a new one, don’t pass it on and give problems to someone else, either. And don’t sell your old mattress as it is against the law in some states.

An Alternative to a New Mattress

An Alternative to a New Mattress: Memory Foam Mattress Toppers

Coming up with the several hundred to thousand dollars it costs today to get a quality mattress is down right impossible for most of us, so is there an alternative solution to this problem?

You can make your old bed feel like new to you, even if you have a conventional spring mattress. Consider a memory foam mattress topper, also known as a pillow top. With this you can enjoy the comfort and good nights sleep of a new mattress but at a fraction the price.

The material used in these foam mattress toppers, known as memory foam is designed to contour around the curves of your body providing superb support that's needed in the back and hip area. Watch as you get up off of your bed in the morning, and the memory foam springs right back to it's original shape, truly a wonder material.

While there aren't an immense amount of features to a foam mattress topper there is one that's most important. The thickness of the pad is what will make the difference between, feeling better or the same as your old mattress. The thicker the pad, the more support you're going to have in the needed areas around your back and hips. Also the density of the foam can play a role in how much it sinks to contour around your body. A 4 lb density is wonderful but might be tough to find. Many memory foam mattresses come with a 4 density rating, how ever a topper is meant to give your bed a new feel not replace a new bed all together.

Foam memory pillows are also being offered by manufactures to give the added support to the head and neck area. These types of pillows usually don’t wear as quickly as the topper or the mattress.

A great addition if you're purchasing a memory foam mattress topper are memory foam or latex pillows. They provide your neck and head the added support it needs through the night to help keep your spine aligned for a great nights sleep.

Disadvantages of Foam Mattress Toppers

The topper itself from a comfort stand point doesn't really have any downfalls, how ever they don't breath really well. Meaning on warmer evenings you'll tend to sweat more, and you might find yourself needing to sleep more to feel refreshed. Also depending on the thickness of the topper you purchase you might potentially require new sheets to fit over your mattress and the topper.

Foam Mattress Topper a Good Alternative to a new Mattress

Today more then ever it’s important to get a good nights sleep to recover from the stress of day-to-day life and prepare yourself for the next one. How ever not all of us have the funds available to go out and purchase a new mattress to ensure we get the sleep we need. While new technologies in mattresses such as memory foam and latex are helping us get a better nights sleep, few of us can afford the one to three thousand dollars some of these materials cost.

How ever there is a way to take your older bed and mattress and make it feel like new, or at least new to you. Want to make your spring mattress feel like a foam mattress? Get a foam mattress topper, you’ll enjoy the feel of a foam mattress for a fraction of the price. A foam topper, made of the same material as a foam mattress revitalizes your old mattress giving it new life, and saving you money.

The majority of foam mattress toppers are made using a material known as memory foam. The topper is designed to contour around the curves of your body, ensuring that you get the support around your body where you need it. Helping with a deeper, longer uninterrupted sleep. When you’re not laying on the mattress topper, the memory foam is designed to spring back top it’s original form.

The thicker a foam mattress topper ideally the more support it will provide you. Foam is measured in density, while the thickness, styles, and sizes are important it’s the actual foam density that matters as to how well it will stand up. An excellent density rating for a quality foam topper is 4, how ever you’re likely not going to easily find that. Remember a topper is meant to make your bed feel like new, how ever it isn’t a perfect replacement for purchasing a new foam mattress.

As a complimentary product to a foam mattress or topper you can now purchase memory foam pillows. These pillows like the foam toppers provide increased support to your head and neck. Not to mention they wear much better then a conventional synthetic or feather pillow.

Foam mattress topper disadvantages:

Like almost any product we purchase there are some draw backs to a foam topper. During the warmer months the topper can make you sweat a bit more then just your mattress alone, of course making it more difficult to sleep. Also you might require a special fitted sheet to fit over your mattress and the foam topper. And last but not least don’t fall for value priced foam mattress toppers. Many of those you can purchase at a department store are low quality and break down rather quickly. When memory foam breaks down it becomes lumpy making your bed feel worse then it did before you purchased the topper.

How To Choose The Type Of Mattress Suitable For You

The key to a good night's sleep often lies in the type of mattress you are sleeping on. Having a good and comfortable mattress will ensure a good night's sleep and gives you the energy you need for the rest of the day.

Visco-elastic foam mattresses have made an impact on the quality of sleep for most people. They are also known as memory foam mattresses. The material was originally designed for NASA for use in the US space program before being used for consumers.

Memory foam mattresses have medical healing properties particularly useful for people suffering from backaches and pains and other such aliments.

The first company to produce memory foam mattresses is Tempur-pedic. Because of its durability and pressure reliving properties, prices were pretty high for tempurpedic mattresses. Lately, other companies have decided to produce their own versions of memory foam mattresses, touting it to be comparable to tempurpedic mattresses. Examples are Serta, Sealy and Simmons. These have brought prices of memory foam mattress down, making them more affordable.

My own preference is I prefer tempurpedic mattresses. Though the price is higher than other mattresses, you can't go wrong with their quality and their guarantee satisfaction. My advice is not to scrimp on the mattress since you spent nearly one-third of your lives on it.

There are several different kinds of memory foam mattresses. Usually the more dense the memory foam, the more you have to pay. The density can vary between 2.5lb to 5lb. The density simply means how much a cubic foot of the memory foam weighs. Generally, the higher density, the firmer is the memory foam.

If you have backaches or pains affecting your lower back, choose a higher density memory foam to support your back when you are sleeping. Also be aware of some dealers who may offer you low prices for tempurpedic mattress but in reality, it is not manufactured by tempur-pedic. To be on the safe side, you can go online to the tempur-pedic website to get the list of authorized dealers.

So what level of density is suitable for you? There really is no guideline. The best way is to try it out yourself before you buy a memory foam mattress. Also checks the warranty period since memory foam mattresses do wear out after a while.

The Foam Mattress - What Are You Missing?

The traditional spring mattress and box spring which have been the bedding of choice for hundreds of millions of people for several decades are now facing a serious challenge from a rather surprising quarter: latex foam. The advances in foam densities and structures have led to its use in mattresses which are as comfortable and durable, or even more so, than traditional mattresses and box springs, but cost less.

There is a foam mattress to meet every budget; however, the cheaper foam mattresses will probably not hold up well under constant use. They are, however, great for use in infrequently used guest rooms, and may even have your guests raving after a night or two. Some less expensive foam mattresses are even designed to serve as chairs during the daytime and open out into beds at night. While the novelty is great, you should still aim for the best quality foam mattress you can find without breaking your budget.

Types of Foam Mattresses

A single foam mattress can contain one of several kinds of foam; or it may contain layers of different kinds of foam with its degrees of firmness increasing from top to bottom. One type of foam, latex, has the advantages of being hypoallergenic, durable, and biodegradable; another is a unique visco-elastic memory foam developed by the NASA space program.

NASA’s memory foam will shape itself to the bodily contours of those using it, providing full support without pressure points, and return to its “remembered” shape when the weight of the users is removed. An eggcrate foam mattress, on the other hand, is very flexible, and good for use on an electrically-adjustable bed.

One of the biggest selling points of the foam mattress is that it offers perfect support for anyone sleeping on it; partners sharing the same foam mattress will have their separate sides of the bed mold to their contours, and the foam will stabilize in that position so that they are not constantly both rolling toward its middle.

When All You Want Is A Good Night’s Sleep

But those who have become the biggest advocates of the foam mattress report that its biggest benefit, by far, is the relief it provides for their aching bones and joints. Not only does the foam mattress eliminate pressure points; it cradles the sleeper in a “foam cocoon” so that the usual need to shift about for a comfortable position is also eliminated.
