What Do You Know About All Organic Mattress Stores?

With an increase in various organic choices available lately it is only natural that there are all organic mattress stores. These stores sell organic mattresses and bedding for children and adults. Organic mattresses and bedding can help you have a better night’s rest while helping you to improve your overall health.

Conventional mattresses are made of synthetic materials, usually polyurethane foam. These materials cause health risks. The chemicals that polyurethane foam is made of are known carcinogens. On top of that, polyurethane foam releases chemicals as it breaks down and since it is continuously breaking down it is always releasing chemicals into the air. This process is called off-gassing.

Chemicals used as flame retardants on conventional mattresses also increase health risks. These chemicals include boric acid, a chemical used to kill cockroaches. Boric acid is known to cause neurological damage and reproductive problems as well as being an eye, throat and lung irritant. Boric acid is also a carcinogenic agent. According to the CDC, exposure to boric acid can cause acute health problems in as little as 15 days.

Memory foam mattresses are comfortable, that is after you let them rest for 24 hours after removing them from their packaging. During those 24 hours the smell you notice coming from the mattress is extremely strong. The smell slowly decreases until you no longer notice it but off-gassing is still happening. The chemicals that are given off from memory foam can cause nausea and headaches to people who sleep in the same room with them.

Formaldehyde is used to treat non-organic cotton sheets and pillowcases to keep them from wrinkling. Labels do not need to include this information so consumers often have no idea that they are increasing their health risks by purchasing seemingly harmless items.

All organic mattress stores sell mattresses that are made of cotton, wool, wood, and natural rubber. These materials do not give off chemical vapors like their non-organic counterparts.

Latex foam is a natural material that comes from rubber tree sap. The sap is whipped into latex foam. Mattresses made of latex foam have an expected life of 20 years. This foam is comfortable but not breathable so foam rubber mattresses are padded with organic cotton or organic wool. Both materials breathe and wick away moisture which helps with temperature control.

In addition to mattresses, organic bedding is available in most organic mattress stores. Organic cotton or wool bedding can help to control body temperature during the summer and winter and increase overall comfort. Sleeping on natural materials can decrease allergic breathing problems, decrease snoring, increase circulation, and improve the overall quality of sleep.

Wool pads have been used in hospitals to reduce pressure and prevent bed sores for many years. Neonatal units have been using sheepskin pads to help infants control their body temperatures for more than a quarter of a century. The risk of SIDS is increased when infants sleep on mattresses that emit toxic chemicals. This risk is decreased when all organic materials are used instead.

Natural bedding can help to reduce health risks while allowing you to enjoy a good nights rest.

Purchasing An Organic Bassinet Mattress Makes Sense

Choosing an organic bassinet mattress is one easy way to ensure a healthy start for your child. It will also make a statement that you prefer products that are not made with chemicals or fabrics that are grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Most organic bassinets are made of grass or reeds, making them lovely, natural and durable. Babies are very sensitive to chemicals, much more than adults, so why not provide your baby with a place to sleep that is totally organic.

Some people question the usefulness of buying an organic mattress for a baby because it typically is a little bit more expensive than non-organic, but it is very important and a good choice for those who can afford it. You can also buy an organic bassinet mattress and use it in places other than the bassinet. Some mattresses are really the size of a standard crib mattress. This means you can use them on the floor when the baby is small and in the crib when he or she gets a little bigger. Best of all, this organic mattress provides you with all these features with the look of a fabric cover. Adding one of these mattresses to your babies bassinet will make it an even more comfortable and chemical-free place.

The main reason why organic makes so much sense is that they are not breathing in chemicals. Research has shown that babies could develop SIDS because they are breathing in the chemicals from their non-organic mattress. Some 2,500 cases of SIDS were reported because of certain mattresses. It is believed that the foam core, chemicals, and vinyl covering combined are the main sources the cases of SIDS. These chemicals go through the vinyl cover and can be absorbed into your babies body and breathed into their respiratory system. The organic mattress covering is so important because it is a natural flame retardant and stands up to all the regulations of the Consumer Product Safety Commission without the use of any chemicals. Any concerned parent would want to make sure their baby does not have any health complications, especially if it can be avoided.

When selecting a organic bassinet mattress look for the ones that are reversible, made of 100% cotton, colorfast, and machine washable. Bassinet mattresses are one of the most important items that a parent will purchase for their new born child. Organic surfaces are super strong, tear resistant, waterproof, and very easy-to-clean. An organic bassinet mattress truly is the best place for your new baby to sleep. For both new and experienced parents, going organic can provide safety and comfort at an excellent price.

Organic Crib Mattress is a Great Investment for a New Beginning

Every new parent wants to ensure that her baby is healthy. Getting an organic crib mattress is a great way to start of a new life. These mattresses have never been treated with chemicals, so they make breathing easier and more comfortable – for parent and child.

New guidelines suggest that newborn babies need to be placed on their side or back for the safest sleeping. As the infant grows and begins to roll over on his own, the organic crib sheets become the most beneficial to the developing child. The organs of the infant are still growing and maturing and can be easily influenced. Offering a fresh, all natural alternative can be the best thing to encourage healthy development.

Natural products have been rising in popularity over the last few years. With the emphasis on global warming, especially after some of the sensationalized movies that have been produced lately, organic is the popular choice. It is also a healthier choice when it comes to many products. Organic crib mattresses, organic sheets, and other similar products breath easier, are better on the skin, and do not contain any harsh chemicals.

Organic Crib mattresses are not the easiest item to locate. Many of the discount and chain stores haven’t discovered the benefits of carrying the natural products. There focus is still on high prices to you, but low cost to them. The World Wide Web is becoming the best tool that new or expectant parents can find. Many of the online stores offer registers like the large retail stores offer.

Even veteran parents or grandparents want the best for their children. With a little investment of time and money, the best organic crib mattress can be found. Companies that specialize in products for the smallest of companies are gaining popularity through the World Wide Web.

How to Clean a Mattress

Because of its size and weight, mattresses can be difficult to clean. Other than this, the intricate materials and expensive linen that make-up a mattress also require extra care in cleaning. Therefore, there are many things to consider when cleaning a mattress.

But why should mattresses be kept neat and tidy all the time? Why should people spent their efforts, time and money just to have their mattresses clean?

We spend an average eight hours on our mattress. Having a clean and comfortable mattress will not just make someone earn a sound sleep, but will also assure the individual with the proper sanitation and healthy living (and sleeping).

Do you know how clean a mattress?

1. To keep the mattress always clean and free from germs, use a mattress protector. It is a piece of cloth or linen that covers the mattress. A mattress protector should always be in good quality and condition, enough to protect the mattress from further stains brought by liquid spills and body fluids. It should also be regularly washed to thwart off dusts that have stuck onto it; thus, preventing dusts from sipping into the mattress. Mattress protector can be bought from warehouse stores, furniture shops or mattress/bedding dealers. Aside from mattress protector, a mattress bag can also be utilized as another form of covering of the mattress.

2. Clean it using vacuum. By using the vacuum upholstery attachment, clean all sides of the mattress to ensure that no dust mites inhabit the mattress. Dust mites are arachnids that can stick onto the bed mattress and are great contributors of indoor pollution. It can cause asthma, skin irritation and itchiness to someone who is lying on a mattress that is encroached by it. Because of these dust mites, mattresses should be cleaned as needed.

3. Lemon juice is one of the most popular homemade agent for cleaning a mattress. One can use a lemon cleaner found in supermarket, or just simply mixing a half cup of lemon juice with cold water. Using a sponge or clean cloth, blot the lemon juice to the stained area. Do not rub harshly or widely the cloth to prevent the stain from spreading more in the mattress. The sweet scent of lemon is also taken by some people as another plus point in how to clean a mattress using lemons. This is very effective most especially to stains caused by urine.

4. Use a mattress cleaner solution sold among supermarket, hardware or furniture store. There is a wide array of choices on solutions that are known to be effective in cleaning mattress. Just make sure to choose something that will not cause further stain to the mattress due to coloring solution (such as the infamous blue color in detergent liquid) mixed into the liquid cleaner. Upholstery shampoo is also known to be effective in removing dirt and foul odors in mattress.

5. Last but not the least, avoid dirtying your mattress. People should avoid drinking (especially wine, beer, and other alcoholic drinks) on their beds because this will increase the chances of liquid spills, which will lead to stains and bad smell of the mattress. Also, smoking is being discouraged to be done inside the bedroom because the smell of cigar will surely cling into the mattress, giving it a "cigarette smell."

What Does A Twin Size Bed Mattress Look Like?

Mattresses can come in different sizes. One of the most common is the twin size bed mattress. This size is often used in children's bedroom and school dormitories.

The name itself suggests that it's used for twin size beds. This is also better known as single bed mattress. It has a dimensional size of thirty-nine (39) inches in width and seventy-five (75) inches in length. It is considered to be the smallest size available in the market.

Most are made up of the same materials as with other sizes. It can be composed with a foam, latex, and fiber. Its thickness does not also necessarily follow with its size.

It is being claimed by many people that this is ideal for rooms that have less space. In households, it is commonly used for the bedrooms of the children and for multi-user guest rooms. The narrow size that this kind of mattress has makes it also appealing among the users because its small size gives more space in the room to move around.

The twin size's practicality is also another advantage to buyers. Instead of buying the expensive king size bed mattress, some people opted to join or connect two twin-sized in order to have a somewhat king size mattress. Moreover, a twin size bed mattress is also known to be cheaper compared to other sizes of mattresses. One good thing about it is that you can buy this type of mattress with a great brand with nothing to worry much about on the cost.

These also come in another variation - the twin XL size bed mattress. It has a width of thirty-nine (39) inches and a length of eighty (80) inches. So, practically it is a just five-inch higher in length that of the mattress. The twin XL size bed mattress was designed to accommodate tall teenagers who are staying in school dormitories. It is also used among bunk beds, giving more space to move around.

Although this size is practical, there are still some people who would want the bigger sizes. The small dimension of the twin size mattresses makes it unappealing to people who have large built and high in height. Accordingly, it is better to buy a mattress that is bigger, regardless on the person who will be using it (can be a petite person or heavy in built), because it can surely fit all - than buying something that is less in size and only the small ones can be accommodated. On the twin XL size bed mattress, people might find a little difficulty finding bedding or a cover that can fit with it because such size is not common and is not always available in the market.

No matter the size, the most important thing is that you are comfortable lying on it. It should also suit well to the interest and "level of comfort" to the one using it.

Is The Tempurpedic Mattress The Best Memory Foam Mattress?

It may have its detractors but the Tempurpedic mattress is the best. It was the first memory foam mattress available to the public and is still the number one best seller. What follows are just some of the reasons why I consider it to be best viscoelastic mattress.

I have to confess that I bought a Tempurpedic mattress years ago when it first came out. Back then the company only sold one mattress - the equivalent of today's Tempurpedic OriginalBed. I just loved the unique feel of it; when you lay down on it you could feel it changing shape, conforming to your body. My wife and I found it to be extremely comfortable. It was comfortable yet incredibly supportive and there was zero motion transfer - something that had been a bug-bear of my wife's all through our married life, but no more.

Since then other manufacturers have produced their own versions of a memory foam mattress (viscoelastic) with mixed results. The manufacturing process used by Tempur is secret and no two viscoelastic mattresses are the same. Sad to say, there are many inferior version that are being 'dumped' on the market and, to add insult to injury, they even claim that their version is better.

So, why is the Tempurpedic mattress the best? First off, the viscoelastic foam it produces if 5.25 lb/ cubic foot. For memory foam to provide the correct support is should be between 5 and 5.8 lbs/cubic foot. Inferior mattresses quite often come with a density of 4 lbs or less. If you're thinking of buying a cheap memory foam mattress don't buy it unless it has 5 lbs density or above. Some manufacturers will tell you that there 'unique' formula provides the same support even though it's less dense but don't believe it for one minute. All it means is their mattress has more air and less foam, which makes it cheaper to produce.

However, reputable manufacturers like Sealy and Restonic do use high density viscoelastic foam in their mattresses but again, remember no two foams are the same. Typically, companies have failed to reproduce the support and comfort of the Tempur mattress and what they have tended to do is produce up market, more luxurious models usually by adding softer memory tops - akin to pillow tops - and fancy mattress covers.

Tempurpedic has responded by manufacturing its own line of luxurious memory foam mattresses - the CelebrityBed and GrandBed being examples.

I'm not a fan of these newer, softer and more luxurious mattresses. I hear numerous reports about the soft tops developing craters in a fairly short space of time; basically, the soft viscoelastic doesn't seem to last the course. And, when the top goes the whole mattress needs replacing, which is an expensive proposition. I think it's far better to by a 'standard' viscoelastic mattress and buy a separate topper like the Tempurpedic mattress topper. That way you get the softer top and if and when it sags you can simply buy a new topper.

Tempurpedic mattresses were first used (and still are) in hospitals. The pressure relieving properties of viscoelastic made it ideal for long-term, bed-ridden patients. In trials involving 23,000 patients the Institution for Clinical & Physiological Research at the Lillhagen Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden concluded that patients suffered from less pain and experienced greatly enhanced and deeper sleep. No other memory foam mattress has such a pedigree or has been tested so thoroughly.

Finally, the Tempurpedic mattress is the best because of the company's belief in its product. No other supplier of memory foam mattresses has as long an in-home trial period with a no questions asked return policy.

Selecting Only the Best Crib Mattress

So, you are expecting a baby in a few months? Becoming a father or a mother gives a sense of fulfillment and joy. The coming of an additional member of the family is a very much anticipated event that involves a great deal of preparation. Aside from taking good care of the mother and the fetus in pre-natal care, decisions on feeding, clothing, hospital arrangements, selecting the baby’s crib takes a primary importance. The minute a newborn baby is discharged from the hospital, he will be spending much of his infant life in the crib. The crib will be the baby's world inside the room where he would be sleeping and playing for hours. So in addition to finding the right crib, finding the right crib mattress to go along with it is important.

During a baby's first months, touch is his most important sense, and he will most be sleeping most of the time. As a parent, by a crib mattress that will give your baby the sleep of an angel; the crib mattress must be soft and comfortable. It must be of good quality because the right crib mattress does contribute to the growth and well being of the baby. The crib mattress should fit the crib snugly; there should be no loose ends dangling or folding along the sides. The crib mattress should not be too soft to carry the baby’s weight at the middle; it must be firm, but not too firm that baby will fall to the sides. The fabric material used for the crib mattress must be good; it must not harm the baby’s delicate skin and must be easy to clean.

Another thing to remember in your choice of baby crib mattress is its total finish. Will it affect the posture of your baby as he grows? This is why it is necessary to get a firm crib mattress. A crib mattress that is firm can help support the baby’s body as he lays supine and help him to develop good posture. A firm crib mattress can greatly help correct undetected or congenital posture problems. In some instances, babies sleep on their stomach. A firm mattress can also help avoid asphyxia, which often happens when the baby's face is burrowed in furrows of the soft mattress.

You can also ask referrals from your pediatrician as to what brand of crib mattress he could recommend. Being an expert on child rearing, he must have ideas and preferences. Mostly, when you buy a baby crib, it is already furnished with a baby crib mattress that fits snugly; if it isn't, choose wisely from the line of mattresses stores.

The Importance of Dealing with Quality Mattress Stores

You might have heard of the fairy tale where a queen wanted to see if a possible bride was good enough for her son by placing a pea under twenty layers of mattresses. This tale emphasizes the importance that a mattress plays when we go to bed. It can mean the difference between having a restful sleep and a painful sleepless night. The type of mattress you use is critical if you have medical conditions. Having back injuries usually means acquiring a special mattress that can only be found at good mattress stores.

Mattresses maybe available in a variety of places but quality ones can only be guaranteed at mattress stores nearest to you. A company that is dedicated solely to a product like a mattress is apt to have the best selections and the best deals available. Although a good mattress can be found by a devoted shopper in a department store, you will only find variety in mattress stores.

Doctors often advise patients with ailing backs to use certain kinds of mattresses. Good mattress stores will allow you to test their products by letting you lie on as many mattress as you want until you find one that really suits you.

Major mattress stores offers the best brands in the market and you can decide which one you prefer. They may also offer huge sales on certain brands of mattress, and you may use this benefit to find a reasonable deal on a comfortable and quality set. Mattress delivery can also be costly so you should jump on deals that offer free delivery to save money even if the mattress is set at its regular price.

Although bargain mattress stores offer great deals on mattresses it is important to see if the standards of those you wish to purchase are acceptable. Some mattress may feel great during your inspection but may break down after a few years of use. Deals like this will not really save you money because more often than not you will need another mattress to replace the cheap one you bought. Spending money one a quality set that you will enjoy for a good ten years or so is a lot better than buying cheap ones that need to be replaced often.

Before Buying A Mattress Review Consumer Reports on Mattresses

When you look over consumer reports on mattresses you may find a lot of diversity but if you think about it, it only makes sense. If you consider how a couple may review it versus how an individual might rate one. There are a lot of different pieces to consider but broken up into segments consumer reports look a little bit like this.

Keep in mind that this is an unbiased source that took the consumer reports and what they found was most couples prefer the Simmons Beauty rest line is the best innerspring mattress. To be more specific, the Beauty rest World Class line has a no-flip design and the Simmons Triton Foundation make for a bed set that never starts to sag. This set has edge to edge support and has the inner pocket coils, which are individual coils rather than coils that are all attached. This is a great concept in keeping the motion in control. Depending on where you make your purchase and exactly which type you decide on you can expect to pay anywhere from $1,000-$2,500.

Heavier people do need to make special considerations when purchasing a mattress as they need extra support from sagging. If you sleep alone then it is not mandatory to buy it with inner pocket coils, according to consumer reports. The continuous coils on the Sealy Posturepedic work great if only one person is sleeping on the mattress. It has heavy gauge coils and offers extra support so this is the model of choice according to consumer reports. Consumers report that you should expect to pay somewhere around $450-$1,300 for that type of mattress.

Consumers rate the viscoelastic Tempur-Pedic as the choice for anyone who suffers from spine or back injuries and this claim is supported by chiropractors and doctors alike. Consumers do report that there is an adjustment period with this one before you will achieve maximum comfort and satisfaction. There also were some minor discrepancies regarding temperature. Some consumers claim that in cold weather, the mattress became much more firm and others reported that it trapped body heat. This one is around $1,800 including the foundation in a queen size.

The Sleep Number mattress uses inflatable air chambers to adjust firmness with a remote control. Consumer's reports on it were not as good as expected. Many consumers claim that this bed is overpriced and not as comfortable as they thought it would be, especially after all of the fancy commercials claiming that both sleep partners sill have maximum comfort as each side of the bed can be adjusted according to their own comfort. It is always best to read consumer reports before making any purchase so you can see what other people who have purchased the same product have to say about it.

Consumer Reports: Crib Mattresses

There are two general types of crib mattresses: foam and innerspring. Both tend to keep their shape well. There are differences, of course. For one, foam is lighter. The densest foam mattress is usually no more than 10 pounds, compared with 20 to 25 pounds for some innerspring mattresses. So changing your baby's sheets may be easier with a foam unit. Foam is also less springy and therefore less apt to encourage your baby to use the mattress as a trampoline. Still, innerspring crib mattresses remain the most popular.

If you're considering a foam mattress, keep in mind that low-priced models tend to be mushy and flimsy, with a thin vinyl covering and vinyl edging. They may also be unsafe. Putting a baby to sleep on a soft mattress increases the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Higher-priced models tend to be firmer (and therefore safer), with thicker, reinforced vinyl or cotton coverings.

To assess foam density (which has a direct relation to firmness), compare the weight of different foam models. That's not always easy to do in a store, but if you're able to lift several different mattresses, do it. In general, the heavier the foam mattress, the denser the foam. You can also give the mattress a squeeze test in the center by pressing your palms into both sides of it at once. A dense mattress won't allow you to press very far. A denser foam mattress is also likely to have firmer edges, which is another important performance factor.

To judge the quality of an innerspring mattress, don't go by the sales gimmick of "coil count." While the cheapest innerspring baby mattresses have about 80 coils and the most expensive can have 600 coils, a high coil count doesn't always mean a firmer mattress. In fact, a model with 150 coils can be firmer than one with 600. You can judge by picking up mattresses to compare their weight and by squeezing them to test for firmness. Innerspring models generally have firmer edges than foam mattresses, but squeeze the edges to do a comparison. You may also feel border rods at the top and bottom perimeter, which provide extra edge support for safety and durability.

The number of layers of padding, what that padding is made of, and the quality of the covering add to the price and increase comfort. The cheapest innersprings, like low-end foam mattresses, have thin vinyl coverings and edgings, which can tear, crack, and dry out over time. As prices go up, coverings become thick, puncture-resistant reinforced double or triple laminates, and edgings have fabric binding, which is a sign of quality. Beyond that, reversibility, the presence of ventilators, and thickness are factors that differentiate one model from another.

The mattress you select should also be in compliance with a new flammability law that went into effect on Jan. 1, 2004. Though this is a state law applying only to California, crib mattresses sold in other states are expected to comply with it.

SHOPPING SECRETS

Compare mattresses in the store. Do this by squeezing them.

Confirm store return policies. And keep your receipt. A store's return policy is more important than a mattress maker's warranty. The store should be willing to exchange a mattress that doesn't fit properly, which is a major safety concern.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE

The major brands of foam and innerspring mattresses are, in alphabetical order: Child Craft, Colgate, Evenflo, Kolcraft, Sealy, and Simmons. Prices range from $30 to about $230.

RECOMMENDATIONS

You don't have to spend the most to get a good quality mattress, but don't skimp, either. A budget somewhere between $90 and $150 will generally serve your baby well. A good, firm mattress may also promote proper posture and is more likely to be durable, which is important if your baby will be using the same mattress as a toddler bed or you'll be passing it down to future siblings.

In the case of innerspring models, look for a firm mattress with good support from border rods. Border rods provide extra firmness, durability, and edge support. A mattress with reinforced or embossed vinyl is leakproof; it is also less likely to tear on the metal edge of a mattress foundation and should hold up better over time. Also look for air vents along the sides of the mattress, which not only help keep the mattress ventilated but may prevent seams from splitting when your tot inevitably starts jumping.

When selecting a foam mattress, go for one with high-density foam. Do the squeeze test for firmness in the center and at the edge. Pinch the mattress covering or ticking; it should feel thick, not flimsy.

Make sure any mattress you buy passes the two-finger test for fit in the crib. That is, if you can place more than two fingers between the mattress and the crib, the fit isn't snug enough. Check that fitted sheets fit snugly and securely, overlapping the corners so that you can't easily pull them up at the corners. Ill-fitting crib mattress sheets are a strangulation and suffocation hazard. And never use an adult sheet as a crib sheet, not even in a pinch.

The Foam Mattress Review- So You're Comfortable With Your Choice

One of the best and quickest ways to determine whether a foam mattress is right for you is to spend some time reading over the many foam mattress review sites on the Internet. The twenty-year warranty on Tempur-Pedic mattresses equals that of many high end standard mattresses.

Another popular foam mattress mentioned on many a foam mattress review site is the Sleep Aid Mattress. Revolutionary New Foam Mattress Technology Relieves Back Pain

While most current technologies in the mattress industry are focusing on finding a single material that is a panacea to all back pain problems, the Institut ProSchlaf has seen the vision of a mattress constructed of multiple foam densities that can be customized and tailored to meet the needs of your body. It can also be reconfigured if your body changes. This revolutionary foam mattress technology debuted this week at the World Market Center in Las Vegas with many other mattress manufacturers but was the only mattress of its kind. Spaldin, a Spanish Sleep Systems Company has teamed up with Hans Malzl to bring this new technology to the United States. Spaldin's new foam mattress is named Vitario.

Vitario is composed of 24 channels that can have inserts of different foam densities inserted to customize the mattress to the unique shape and body type of the individual. With different densities of foam the body then is cradled in a cushion unlike any mattress on the market today. This revolutionary foam mattress makes it possible to get and good nights rest and wake up without the back aches and pains that normally accompany mattresses of just a single density. With the ability to reconfigure the foam mattress inserts as the bodies needs change, the may mean this is the last mattress you would ever own.

Back pain suffers watch out for this new technology it might be the unique relief you have been needing and looking for.

This new foam mattress sleep technology was so interesting that Furniture Today, a weekly furniture magazine and Mattress Online Magazine both wrote articles discussing this new foam mattress sleep technology. It was even picked up on the Pro Sleep Tech website where images of the mattress technology, Hans Malzl and the Spaldin team were also displayed. Search on Google for Vitario mattress to find the articles and websites for more information.

It's great to see the innovation of European companies picking up the slack in the industry and stepping out with fresh new ideas rather than rehashing the same old sleep technologies. Bravo to Hans Malzl, Director of Research at Institute ProSchlaf and Andreas Kainz PhD., MD. and Medical Consultant to the Institut ProSchlaf for daring to step out and explore new territory in foam mattress technology and changing the face of the current sleep culture and the to Spaldin team for their efforts to help bring this revolutionary foam mattress technology to the United States.

A Memory Foam Mattress is a Good Reason to Sleep

Having a good, clean mattress is an excellent first step to having a good night's sleep! You may want to consider a good memory foam mattress as it can offer you luxurious comfort for a reasonable price. One consideration in addition to a memory foam mattress is a pillow. Bedding should always be clean and not too heavy or too thin. The same rule applies for your pillow. Just the right thickness will assure you of a reasonably good night's rest.

Americans love their pillows, and it is interesting how some like to keep the same one for far too long! One interesting statistic is that the average pillow is two to three years old and some get much older.

If your pillow is not washed enough, at least every three months, it won't be as comfortable as a could be. An old pillow or pillows that are long overdue for a good wash can significantly downgrade your sleeping experience. The old saying goes, you always get what you pay for. If you decide to invest in a tempur-pedic mattress system or some other type of excellent brand name for a memory foam mattress, don't spare the coin on a pillow. You'll be sorry you did.

Some of the better pillows on the market are made from memory foam. It is specially manufactured to conform to your body's curves and shape. You can purchase pillows made of memory foam, travel pillows or even a memory foam mattress topper. Believe it or not, you can even pamper your household pet if you like. When selecting a pillow, consider one that will fit well into your neck. You may even want to consider a full-body contour pillow.

Sleeping with this between your knees to relieve lower back pain has proven to be very effective. Experimenting to see what works best for you is really the only way to find maximum comfort for your sleeping experience.

A Look at Foam Mattresses

We’ve all been there. First, we spend a sleepless night, tossing and turning. Then we spend the next two days with body aches, sore from head to toe. The effects of a bad mattress can be serious.

Then we face the daunting prospect of shopping for a new mattress. This task can be a bit intimidating. There are so many different prices, sizes, styles, and firmness to choose from. They come in drastically different materials, as well. Mattresses can be filled with air, water, fabric, feathers, springs or foam. One of the most popular -- especially for people suffering body pain -- is the foam mattress.

Foam mattresses are popular because of their body-contouring nature. The foam literally reshapes to mold to the user’s body. This is designed to strategically place pressure where needed, while relieving the strain on other points. It is believed that this relieves pressure from the neck, spine, and lower back, eliminating much of the soreness and pain associated with regular mattresses.

The foam mattress is not entirely without drawbacks, though. Some people complain about the body-contouring nature that it’s famous for. If, for some reason, you are not happy with the newly molded shape, you cannot change it. Some reports also say that the foam loses resiliency quickly. Others complain that the foam gets extremely hot, causing sweating and clamminess. Despite these complaints, many people do prefer foam mattresses.

If, after doing research, you decide to buy a foam mattress, they are available from most bedding stores. Some of the more popular foam mattresses are the Sealy Reflexion, the Tempur-Pedic, and the Isoform.

A-Bed offers a memory foam bed by Dormia. The Versailles by Dormia is offered for $447, including shipping.

Foam Order offers foam mattress pads. These fit on top of your existing mattress to create a body-contouring surface. They start at $248 for a Queen sized 3-inch pad. Foam Order also offers a selection of foam mattresses.

Also known as a visco elastic mattress or memory mattress, the visco memory mattress is ideal for providing a comfortable nights sleep. With the body weight evenly distributed, circulation is improved throughout the body compared to sleeping on a traditional mattress. Arthritis relieve can also be achieved with a memory foam mattress in that it helps to alleviate aches and pains.

With a memory foam mattress, tossing and turning is reduced due to the contoured support that is provided. Your sleeping partner will also notice a difference in that they will not feel movement on the bed.

A memory foam mattress will return to its original state due to the foam structure that they are made of. This mattress will never sag like a common spring mattress, resulting in no need to periodically turn the mattress. A visco memory foam mattress can easily be rolled up, allowing for easy portability throughout the house.
